East coast wings started with a simple idea: serve the most boldly flavored, perfectly crafted wings the Maine coast had ever seen. Founded in 2008 by lifelong Rockland resident Marcus Hale, what began as a small takeout stand on Ocean Street quickly earned a devoted following for its signature sauces and fresh coastal ingredients.
Marcus grew up fishing with his father and spending summers at backyard cookouts where food was always the centerpiece of community. He wanted to bottle that feeling — that sense of gathering, warmth, and pure satisfaction — and serve it to anyone who walked through his door. East coast wings was born from that vision.
Over sixteen years, we've grown into a full-service restaurant beloved by locals and visitors alike. But our philosophy hasn't changed: every wing is hand-tossed, every sauce is made from scratch, and every guest deserves to feel at home on the coast of Maine.

Marcus Hale opens a small takeout window on Ocean Street with just six wing flavors and a dream. Lines form within the first week, and locals quickly spread the word about Rockland's boldest new food spot.
Demand outgrows the stand. East coast wings opens its first full sit-down restaurant at 58 Ocean St, seating 60 guests. The menu expands to 20+ flavors and introduces its now-iconic "Coastal Heat" signature sauce.
East coast wings wins "Best Wings in Maine" at the New England Food Festival, putting Rockland on the culinary map. Guest count surges 40% and we hire our first dedicated executive chef, Chef Elena Marsh.
We launch our online ordering platform, making it easy for regulars and new fans to enjoy east coast wings from the comfort of home. Delivery partnerships extend our reach across Knox County.
We launch "Wings for the Coast," donating a portion of every order to local food banks and coastal conservation efforts. Over $80,000 raised in the first two years of the program.

Trained at the Culinary Institute of America and a James Beard semi-finalist, Chef Elena joined East coast wings in 2014 and has since created our award-winning signature sauce lineup and seasonal specials.
With over 12 years in restaurant operations, Daniel ensures every shift runs smoothly, every guest is served quickly, and every team member has what they need to succeed behind the scenes.
Sophia leads our front-of-house team with infectious energy and a gift for making every guest feel like a regular. Her team training programs have earned East coast wings top-tier hospitality reviews.
